Reds teams actively participate in the East Shore Travel League, which is based in New Haven. Most league games are scheduled against teams from south-central CT, often played at our home at McNamara Field on Wiese Road.

Player selection occurs through tryouts announced to the broader Cheshire Youth Baseball & Softball community via postings on the CYB website. Typically starting after Labor Day, each team holds 3 or 4 tryouts, although some may have fewer. For more details and updates, visit our Tryouts page.

Generally, the season for each team spans from early April through late June to early/mid July. Post-season tournaments can extend into the middle of July. Weekdays usually involve one or two games, with at least as many on weekends. Teams aim to practice at least once a week, sometimes more if a field is available. There's also an option for teams to participate in non-league tournaments, with locations spanning from NY, NJ, DE, MA, MD, and beyond. Considering regular season, post-season, and non-league tournaments, each team anticipates playing 25-40 games. While managers strive to provide equal playing time, it's essential to note that there's no guarantee of equitable playing time.

Reds teams kick off indoor workouts in January, utilizing local school gymnasiums and privately-owned facilities in Cheshire. To facilitate hitting practice, private facilities are employed since batting practice cannot be conducted in school gyms. Winter workouts typically conclude as weather permits outdoor practice, right around the beginning of the season.

At the heart of the Reds is our strong sense of community. We focus on creating a connected, supportive environment where players can thrive, both on and off the field. Our approach isn’t just about baseball; it's about building lasting relationships within the team and our local community.

By fostering these connections, we bring together players, parents, and coaches with a shared passion for the game. This collective commitment drives our team's success and ensures that every player has the opportunity to grow and excel in their baseball journey.
