Reds Schedule: Reds 8U vs. Gators Blue 8U Showdown

Reds 8U lost to Gators Blue 8U 7-4 on Saturday at 468 Birdseye St.

Gators Blue 8U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jack R grounded out, and Gators Blue 8U scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Gators Blue 8U added one run in the second after Nolan E grounded out.

Gators Blue 8U added one run in the third. Reds 8U committed an error, making the score 4-1.

Tyler P pitched three innings in relief for Reds 8U. The righty allowed two hits and three runs (two earned) while, striking out eight and walking one. Bryce P stepped on the mound first for Reds 8U. They allowed two hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking three. Nolan E started on the mound for Gators Blue 8U. The left-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking four.

Bryce P led Reds 8U with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Bryce P, Liam S, Gio B, Oliver T, and Dom G each collected one hit for Reds 8U. Grant S stole two bases.

Chris L set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Gators Blue 8U with two hits in three at bats. Nolan E, Jack J, Gavin A, Chris L, and Jack R each drove in one run for Gators Blue 8U. Chris L, Andrew L, and Mason M each stole multiple bases for Gators Blue 8U. Gators Blue 8U ran wild on the base paths, amassing nine stolen bases for the game. Gators Blue 8U turned one double play in the game.

Reds 8U Fight Back In Loss To Gators Blue 8U

Despite a 5-run deficit in the first inning, Reds BU almost came all the way back, eventually falling 14-13 to Gators Blue 8U on Saturday at 468 Birdseye St. Reds 8U closed the gap by scoring on a double, a single, a walk, a walk, a double, a single, a single, a ground out, a walk, and a walk.

Reds 8U collected nine hits and Gators Blue 8U had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

Gators Blue 8U got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nolan E singled, scoring one run, Jack D drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jack R hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs.

Reds 8U scored five runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Emelio P doubled, scoring two runs, Antonio F singled, scoring two runs, and Luke F drew a walk, scoring one run.

Gators Blue 8U flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 10-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Jack D on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.

Reds BU tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a walk by Bryce P, a double by Gio B, a single by Liam S, and a single by Dom G.

Reds BU took the lead in the top of the fourth. Nick M grounded out, scoring one run, to give Reds 8U the advantage, 11-10.

Gators Blue 8U captured the lead, 14-11, in the bottom of the fourth when Captain C drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jack D doubled, scoring three runs.

Luke F led things off on the mound for Reds BU. The right-handed pitcher allowed nine hits and 10 runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Chris L led things off on the bump for Gators Blue BU. They allowed seven hits and 10 runs (nine earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking six.

Liam S, Emelio P, Antonio F, and Dom G each drove in two runs for Reds BU. Tyler P went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Reds 8U in hits. Reds 8U had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 11 walks for the game. Luke F, Bryce P, Liam S, and Oliver T led the team with two bases on balls each.

Gators Blue 8U collected 12 hits in the game. Jack D provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Gators Blue BU with four runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Jack D, Mason M, Jaxon C, and Jack R each collected two hits for Gators Blue BU. Gators Blue 8U were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jack D made the most plays with five.

Reds 8U will travel home next to face Cheshire Aviators after a scrimmage in Wallingford.
