Pitching Impressive As Reds 8U Beat CT Grind

Both teams were strong on the hill on Sunday, but Reds 8U defeated CT Grind 2-0. Tyler P pitched a complete game for Reds 8U, recording 18 outs.

Reds 8U opened the scoring in the first on a wild pitch scoring Luke.

Tyler P allowed only one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking two. #17 started the game for CT Grind. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three.

Luke F led Reds 8U with one hit in two at bats. Reds 8U had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Liam S and Bryce P led the team with two walks each. Luke F, Liam S, Dom G, Emelio P, and Nick M each stole multiple bases for Reds 8U. Reds 8U stole 14 bases in the game and they were sure-handed in the field by not commiting a single error. Nick M had the most chances in the field with six.

Reds 8U Rally Defeats CT Grind

Reds 8U rallied to best CT Grind 7-6 on Sunday at 116 Old Tavern Road. Reds 8U trailed by as many as five runs during the game.

CT Grind jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after #2 singled, scoring one run, #4 grounded out, scoring one run, #7 doubled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.

Luke F doubled, which helped Reds 8U tie the game at five in the bottom of the second.

In the bottom of the third, Reds 8U broke up the tie when Liam S singled, scoring one run. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 7-5.

Dom G pitched five innings in relief for Reds 8U. The righty gave up two hits and one run while striking out 10 and walking none. Luke F started on the hill for Reds 8U. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (four earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking one. #27 stepped on the hill first for CT Grind. They gave up seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking four.

Luke F and Tyler P were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Reds 8U while hitting back-to-back. Nick M led Reds 8U with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-1 on the day. Tyler P stole three bases.
